Men Go to BattleAbout the Film
November 1861, Small’s Corner, Kentucky. Brothers Francis and Henry Mellon are struggling to scare up funds to keep their barren farm afloat. While boisterous Francis indulges in alcohol and irresponsible behavior, taciturn Henry pines after a wealthy neighbor’s daughter (Rachel Korine, Spring Breakers). Eventually, the brothers’ head-butting comes to a breaking point, and Henry takes off in the night to join a more literal battle as a soldier in the Union army. Winner of the Best New Narrative Director award at the Tribeca Film Festival, Zachary Treitz displays an exacting eye for period details, as he bridges an intimate tale of fraternal dysfunction with the grand scale of the Civil War in this stunningly photographed film.
