Bruce Dern will be on hand for A Conversation With... discussion moderated by Time Out New York senior film writer Joshua Rothkopf and featuring NEBRASKA co-star Will Forte.

About the Film

From Alexander Payne, the Academy Award®-winning director of SIDEWAYS and THE DESCENDANTS, comes this hilarious, bittersweet film about Woody Grant, a taciturn curmudgeon convinced he’s won a million dollars from a generic sweepstakes letter. Determined to collect his prize, he wrangles his down-and-out son David into taking a road trip to claim the fortune. NEBRASKA features some of the sharpest, most compassionate filmmaking of Payne’s career, topped with colorful turns by June Squibb and Stacy Keach, Will Forte in a winning lead role, and a soulful, career-capping performance by the legendary Bruce Dern as Woody.

About the Director

The grandson of Greek immigrants, Alexander Payne grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where he was educated by Jesuits. He later studied History and Spanish Literature at Stanford University before earning an MFA in Film Directing at UCLA. His first two feature films were the comedies CITIZEN RUTH (1996) and ELECTION (1999). ABOUT SCHMIDT premiered in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. Both SIDEWAYS (2004) and THE DESCENDANTS (2011) won Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay and were nominated for four others, including Best Picture and Best Director. Four of his six feature films were filmed in Nebraska.
