ABOUT THE REVUE
Featuring spectacular sendups of Alexa, Netflix, Jeopardy James, Bill De Blasio, Jerry Falwell, Jr., and more, The Passing Show of 2019 is a new musical revue celebrating and satirizing the social and cultural events of the past year, with comedy sketches and songs written by emerging writers. The revue will also feature a new mini-musical spoofing Golden Age musical comedies, the well-traveled Twentieth Century railroad, and its eccentric patrons.
The Passing Show of 2019 is conceived, curated, and routined by UMC artistic director Ben West, and inspired by what is considered the first American revue of the same name in 1894.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
This one-night-only event is a special benefit concert for UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization giving new voice to the past, present, and future of the American musical. UMC’s 2019 activities included a Writers Lab; a two-part lecture series for the Library of Congress; a museum exhibit at Yale University; education programs; and the premiere of a new documentary musical tracing the history of black musical theatre.
