The TEAM Makes a Play

They’re Young. They’re Talented. They’re Broke.
The inside story behind the making of the TEAM’s award-winning Edinburgh and National Theatre hit, Mission Drift.

“Paulette Douglas has made a film that goes as near to being part of the creative process and understanding it as any observer can do.”
Clare Simpson FringeReview

“The creative process at its most raw…an unprecedented view”
Sam Waddicor Broadway Baby

“Inspiring and magical.”
Claudia Lorenzo La Critica Film Magazine

Set against the backdrop of the worst financial crisis since the Depression, this exciting new documentary captures the TEAM—internationally acclaimed Brooklyn-based theatre ensemble and four-time Fringe First winners— fighting to keep their company afloat while caught in the midst of creating Mission Drift, their critically acclaimed musical epic about American Capitalism.

The ultimate primer on “devised” theatre, and a must-see for anyone aspiring to a career in the arts, The TEAM Makes A Play is an exclusive first-hand look at what it really takes to make a play; about heart and love and money and art, and the struggle to make a living doing what you love.

Granted unprecedented access to the TEAM’s collaborative creative process, multiple Emmy Award-winning director Paulette Douglas follows the company for three years, from initial concept to world premiere—from New York to Vegas to Europe—in a rare behind-the-scenes look at all the passion, disappointment, and drama of this roller coaster ride through the heart of indie theatre.

The evening will feature a talkback with director Paulette Douglas and members of the TEAM, as well as live music from Heather Christian.
