About the Film

Filmmaker Irene Taylor Brodsky turns the camera on her family in this moving intergenerational exploration of deafness. Her son Jonas lost his hearing as a baby, but has grown up with sound due to cochlear implants. In contrast, Brodsky's deaf parents, Paul and Sally, have largely led lives shaped by silence. As Jonas expresses himself through the music of Beethoven, and Paul and Sally confront growing older, each reflects on the parallel gifts and challenges of silence and deafness.
