About the Film
In 1930s Paris, Henri “Papillon” Charrière (Charlie Hunnam), a roguish safecracker, is framed for murder and sent to Devil’s Island, a notorious penal colony in French Guiana. Aaron Guzikowski was raised in Brockton, Massachusetts and is best known for writing the 2013 film Prisoners and creating the 2014 television series The Red Road.
Michael Noer was born in Esbjerg, Denmark, and studied at the National Film Academy. His films include the documentary Son of God and the features R: Hit First, Hit Hardest, Northwest, and Key House Mirror.
