About the Director
Brooklyn hipster wannabe writer Nathan Fisher (Bryan Greenberg, HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA) has a lot of growing up to do. He’s a writer who doesn’t write and a boyfriend who won’t commit. When his father suffers a stroke, he heads to Florida where he also has to deal with his mother’s Alzheimer’s. Nathan gets a crash course in love, loyalty, family, and forgiveness in this dark comedy about stepping up when your parents are going downhill. A terrific supporting cast includes veteran stage and screen stars Linda Lavin and Harris Yulin as Nathan’s stricken parents.
Michael Maren is a former war correspondent who spent years in Africa chronicling wars and famines. He is the author of THE ROAD TO HELL, about the war and intervention in Somalia. Ten years ago he turned to film, writing scripts for HBO, Sony and others. A SHORT HISTORY OF DECAY is his directorial debut; a very personal project inspired by his mother's fight with Alzheimer's Disease.
