Anti-Sikh riots surrounding the assassination of the Indian prime minister force a teacher and her students to unite to protect Kush, the only Sikh student in the class.
Winner of best short film at the Venice Film Festival. Shubhashish Bhutiani is a 2013 graduate of The School of Visual Arts film program in New York City, having grown up in a small Himalayan town in India. Bhutiani began his film career as an assistant on the critically acclaimed director Vishal Bharadwaj’s film, Kaminey, and has worked on commercials for major international brands. To date, Bhutiani has directed multiple short films, music videos and theatre. His thesis film, KUSH, made its world premiere at the 70th Venice International film festival. Bhutiani is currently in development on his debut feature film.
