About the Director
The acclaimed master of political thrillers such as Z and MISSING, director Costa-Gavras unfurls his latest nail-biter in the dog-eat-dog world of high-stakes international banking. Cutthroat corporate climber Marc Tourneuil becomes the CEO of France’s important Phenix Bank, appointed by the company’s board of directors as an interim leadership solution–––or so they think. Tourneuil wields his new power with Machiavellian daring, stunning the old guard, producing dramatic financial results, and ultimately catching the scheming eye of Dittmar Rigule (Gabriel Byrne), an American hedge fund honcho and stakes holder at Phenix.
Costa-Gavras' select credits include: Z ('69), which earned two awards at the Cannes Film Festival (Jury’s Special Award and Best Actor for Jean-Louis Trintignant), a New York Critics Circle Award, and two Oscars out of five nominations; MISSING ('82), winner of the Palme d’or and Best Actor for Jack Lemmon at the Cannes Film Festival, a Writers Guild of America award, and an Oscar for Best Screenplay, out of four nominations; MUSIC BOX ('89), winner of the Golden Bear Award at the 1990 Berlin Film Festival, and an Oscar nomination for Jessica Lange.
