Natàlia lives and works in Barcelona during the tempestuous years of Spain's Second Republic. One evening she goes dancing in Diamond's Square and meets the man who will become her husband. The Time of the Doves is the most acclaimed novel by one of Catalonia's best-loved writers and master storyteller, Mercè Rodoreda (1908-1983). Before the reading, there will be a presentation of the latest novel by Mercè Rodoreda to be translated into English: Death in Spring (La mort i la primavera).
