Edgar Degas did not start out painting dancers, there was a dancer who was the first, who was the reason that he spent the rest of his life painting the ballet. Eugenie Fiocre was the toast of Paris, considered to be, perhaps, the most beautiful woman in all of France. After seeing her in the revolutionary ballet La Source, Degas desired nothing more than to paint her. Le Wilhelm, playwright of previous 59E59 hits Maiden's Progeny and The Hanging of Razor Brown, brings us the unknown story of this seduction, the artist coming into his own and the dancer who showed him his life's work.
